Sylvia’s philosophy of education has evolved through the years as she has studied, researched, and worked with children and families. She has dedicated her professional life to creating a village in support of our families. Sylvia believes that young children are born learning. That is why she created a school where as soon as you walk in, you know this place is special. A place where children are filled with joy, where children express their creativity, their emotions are valued and their theories are researched.

Carmen is a natural communicator, which allows her to effectively serve as a liaison between families and faculty. She believes that all children have the right to be treated with respect and love and that they each have a special place in the community. Her background in social psychology allows her to connect with children, as well as parents embarking in the marvelous journey of raising a child, with all the questions and challenges that brings along. Her experience as an educator, mother and administrator allows her to juggle the different hats she wears at Bottega, keeping the child as the main priority, parents informed and supported, and the office running smoothly.
